MEET THE DOCTOR

“The key to health begins with a properly functioning nervous system.”

As the daughter of a chemist, Dr. Michelle Fehmel was taught at an early age how to avoid any kind of chemicals (dyes/preservatives in foods, medications, etc) because of their far reaching deleterious effects on the body. She soon developed an interest in proper nutrition and exercise. However, even with her many efforts to stay healthy, Dr. Michelle suffered multiple bouts of bronchitis and pneumonia as a teenager. “My mother suggested that I should find a chiropractor, of which I knew very little about. After my first adjustment, I immediately noticed that I could breath better. Over several months of care, I wasn’t getting the upper respiratory infections any more.” This is when she discovered that chiropractic helped so much more than headaches and back pain. “Without the nerve interference, my immune system and my body was finally working the way it was supposed to. For me, the next logical step was Chiropractic school.”

Dr. Michelle Fehmel (pronounced fay’-mal) received her Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from Boston College becoming a member of the psychology national honor society. She then attended New York Chiropractic College graduating cum laude with her Doctorate of Chiropractic in 2004.

For twelve years Dr. Michelle worked in a Maximized Living Office treating literally thousands of patients over the years, from infants to athletes to geriatric patients. She practiced state of the art spinal corrective and rehabilitative techniques, which she will be bringing to her office at The Spa on Green Street. These techniques involve specific corrective adjustments, advanced corrective adjusting tools like the Arthrostim, and specialized rehabilitative equipment, which all work together to correct the problem, instead of just temporarily cover up the symptoms. Her patients were also given home care instructions so that they had the opportunity to achieve their results much more quickly.

Through Maximized Living, she has extensively trained all over the country with some of the greatest mentors in her profession. In addition to advanced nutritional training, Dr. Michelle has taken numerous advanced spinal corrective training courses in the Pettibon technique, with the Clear Institute, as well as, in A.R.T. (active release soft tissue technique). She also utilizes the latest Myovision surface EMG technology developed by a NASA scientist for detecting dysfunctions with the nervous system. This scan objectively measures muscle compensation for subluxations (spinal misalignments causing nerve interference) so that a patient can now see what is actually happening with his or her spine and nervous system.

Dr. Michelle’s passion is to teach her patient’s how to live the “Chiropractic Lifestyle,” so that they can forever take an active role in maintaining good health and preventing problems. This involves taking care of and maintaining your spine and nervous system, fueling your body with good nutrition, keeping your body strong with a proper exercise regimen, and removing and eliminating toxins from your daily life. Not only have these essentials proven to be extraordinarily successful in eliminating pain and symptoms, but more importantly, in restoring the body’s function.

Her treatment plans help the body essentially work the way it was designed to, causing patients to feel happier, healthier, and more alive- often very shortly after beginning treatment.

Dr. Michelle takes great pride in treating patients and looks forward to serving the people and families of Gainesville and the surrounding areas. She resides in Flowery Branch with her husband, Tim, and two beautiful children, Mason and Charlotte.
